The Challenge

Shift have helped us from the inception of eBay for Change to ensure that we are building the programme with the needs of social enterprises at the heart of it. The team have guided us through the process to embed learning into how we approach our work and have always been thoughtful, probing and available throughout.

Chris Gale – Head of Social Impact, eBay UK

Since founding in the mid 1990s, eBay has grown to become a hugely influential e-commerce platform. Supporting small businesses and early-stage founders to grow their sales is at the heart of eBay’s mission, particularly focusing on under-represented founders who may struggle to gain access and visibility on other e-commerce marketplaces.

Our approach

Shift is working with eBay to understand how to support social entrepreneurs to develop their e-commerce knowledge and strategy in order to attract wider ‘mainstream’ audiences, improve their exposure, and drive sales on the platform.

So far…

  • Collaborating with UnLtd to support the design of a ‘selling social’ pilot programme for social entrepreneurs
  • Leading the design and implementation of eBay for Change’s pilot learning model
  • Bringing programme stakeholders together to drive tweaks and improvements for future iterations
