The challenge
We needed to help charities take control of their development and understand their motivation for change.
Harriet Stranks, Director of Grants at Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales
Due to limited capacity and evolving pressures, the nonprofit sector’s approach to organisation development can be inconsistent and under-resourced. The Covid-19 pandemic presented a newly challenging context for change, whilst the sector has been needed like never before.
Our response
The nonprofit sector becoming more agile, stronger and resilient through good organisational development practices is so important in today’s society.
Elly de Decker, Director of England funding at The National Lottery Community Fund
In collaboration and consultation with NPC, NCVO, IVAR and 200+ nonprofits, consultants, coaches, thought leaders and funders, we have created Patterns for Change, a set of seven behaviours for regular practice.
These behaviours aim to put the people working in nonprofits at the centre of change to better lead how organisation development is shaped for them, their teams and in their network.

Developed with Emily Bazalgette, Raphaëlle Heaf and Tayo Medupin.
